Bertie, N.C.– Fybe, a subsidiary of Roanoke Cooperative, proudly served the Bertie and Halifax County communities through 2 successful volunteer days on April 12, 2023, and June 30, 2023. Affectionately called “We Care Days” by the team, they were established to focus Fybe’s philanthropic efforts within its service areas through various hands-on projects.

The broadband service provider most recently collaborated with the Lewiston-Woodville Hive House, West Bertie Elementary School, and the Roanoke Rapids Public Library.

The Hive House is a community center and non-profit afterschool program for young men in grades 6 through 12. Volunteers at this location focused on beautification efforts on the exterior of the organization’s building planting flowers and shrubs and repairing and painting the porch and handicap ramp railings.

West Bertie Elementary School is a Title I school that serves over 200 students in West Bertie. The Fybe team’s volunteers used their collective skills to enhance the school’s marquee sign by planting flowers and shrubs, replacing the mailbox, and mulching multiple areas at the front of the school, giving students and teachers a welcoming view when entering the building.

The Roanoke Rapids Public Library is a hub for loaning books, children's programming, and children and adults looking to use computer/printing services. It serves approximately 70 patrons per day. Fybe brightened the non-profit's exterior by planting flowers, painting handrails, washing away dirt and grime by pressure washing sidewalks, stains on the building, and the beloved mounted fish.

"We are deeply committed to positively impacting the people we serve," said Bo Coughlin, COO of Fybe. “We Care Day is just one of the ways we demonstrate our dedication to giving back and supporting our local communities. We are excited about the future growth of this project and the ongoing transformation we can achieve together.”

Fybe has committed to hosting more We Care Days in the future. The team plans to volunteer in the communities they serve at least once a quarter.
